Hotel Complex and Mountain Resort near Lake Taihu Bay, China

Nestled in the rolling hills of Wujin, the mountain resort celebrates the beautiful natural environment through a careful articulation of the inherent landscape qualities of the site. The luxurious 5 star hotel, extensive holiday apartments, private villas, and a commercial hub consisting of cafés, restaurants and clubs, are composed around a central lake and gardens that provide recreation spaces whilst simultaneously harvesting, filtering and storing rainwater. Natural light and views are optimised throughout the landscape and in the design of the independent buildings in concert with the topography and planting strategies of the masterplan design.This research demonstrates the capacity for the design of the built environment to meet challenges
